From the moment we are born, we face obstacles that shape our character. Whether it iss learning to walk, communicate, or solve everyday problems, we beat these small challenges through perseverance and our natural ability to adjust. As we mature, the difficulties we encounter become more complex, but the essential concept remains the same: we search for answers, adapt to change, and anticipate the future. This principle also applies to our career. Each day, we face situations that demand us to step beyond our comfort zones, think creatively, and discover new approaches to tackling complex issues.
This reality, which is part of our daily experience, is particularly relevant in the technological world. Nevertheless, the challenges not only push us to adapt, but invite us to be protagonists of change, to anticipate the needs of the future.
With this in mind, Mobbeel has created the Mobbeel Hackathon Innovation Challenge, an event that reflects the essence of overcoming barriers and finding solutions. This event has been designed to encourage talent and originality without the need for advanced programming skills. The hackathon aims to test participants’ ability to solve problems related to cybersecurity and biometrics, encouraging collaboration and disruptive thinking.
This event is a reminder that, just as in life, success in innovation depends on how we face each challenge we are presented with.
So, what is the Mobbeel Innovation Challenge, and when will it take place?
The Mobbeel Innovation Challenge is a no-code hackathon that will take place on 3 October 2024 at the Garaje 2.0 facilities in Cáceres. Organised by Mobbeel in collaboration with FUNDECYT-PCTEX and the National Institute of Cybersecurity (INCIBE), this event is a pioneering free initiative in the region. It is open to all students interested in technology and innovation, offering a unique opportunity to develop creative solutions to real technological problems.
Unlike traditional hackathons, the Mobbeel Innovation Challenge does not require advanced programming skills. Instead, it relies on no-code tools, facilitating the participation of people with different profiles. The aim is to democratise access to technological innovation, allowing anyone to propose and develop impactful ideas.
Technological challenges and lines of work of the Mobbeel hackathon
The core of the hackathon revolves around three major challenges related to biometrics and cybersecurity. These challenges invite participants to think critically and develop solutions that can have a significant impact on people’s lives:
- Multi-modal biometrics: Combining different biometric features to enhance the user experience in various applications is possible. But how can multiple forms of biometric identification be merged to create more secure and efficient solutions?
- Protecting biometric information: Protecting our data is critical, and protecting biometric data has become a priority. This challenge seeks innovative ideas that can revolutionise the security of this sensitive data.
- Behavioural biometrics: Analysis of human behaviour offers new ways of authentication. Participants will have to imagine how to leverage these behavioural characteristics to create more intuitive and secure systems.
An inclusive format: No-Code
The Mobbeel Innovation Challenge’s no-code character makes it particularly attractive. It removes the code barrier, making this hackathon designed so that anyone with an innovative idea can participate, regardless of their technical level. Mentors will provide training in no-code tools and agile working methodologies, such as design thinking, ensuring that both beginners and more experienced participants can benefit from an enriching experience.
The no-code methodology allows for prototyping and developing solutions in record time, which aligns perfectly with the dynamics of a hackathon. Teams will be able to focus on problem-solving and creativity rather than worrying about complex technical issues.
Yes, you read that right. It is teamwork
We believe in the power of teamwork as a driver of change. Since our start, we have found that the best ideas often come not from a single brilliant mind but from a collective effort, where different perspectives and skills interlace to shape extraordinary solutions. The true potential of a team lies in its ability to combine diverse talents, share knowledge and learn from each other. Each member brings a key piece to the process, and it is this synergy that allows us to approach challenges from unexpected angles and find more robust answers.
That’s why, in this hackathon, creating a team is not simply an option but an opportunity to experience the power of collaboration and to take ideas further than one could go alone. It would be best if you had a team to participate (more details on how to participate).
What is the agenda of the Mobbeel hackathon?
The Mobbeel hackathon day will start at 9:00 am with a warm welcome and the presentation of the day’s agenda, followed by the introduction of the challenges and an educational talk. From 10:15 am, participants will organise themselves into groups to start working on their ideas, with a networking break at noon. After a short break, work will continue until the lunch break at 2:00 pm. The afternoon will be devoted to prototyping and preparing the presentations, which will take place from 5:00 pm. After the jury’s deliberation, the event will close at 6:30 pm with the awards ceremony and closing ceremony.
Awards and recognition
At the end of the event, the teams will present their solutions to a jury of experts. Aspects such as creativity, feasibility and the degree of innovation of the projects will be evaluated. The three best teams will receive prizes in the form of Amazon gift vouchers worth a total of €1,000 (€500 for first prize, €250 for second prize and €150 for third prize), adding an extra incentive for participants.
Nevertheless, the benefits of participation extend beyond the material prizes. Participants will have the invaluable opportunity to stand out in a high-level professional environment, potentially opening doors in the technology and cybersecurity sector through networking opportunities at the event.
How can you participate?
Participation in the event is completely free of charge. Interested individuals can easily register via the event’s official website. Participants have the option to register individually or as part of a team. Those who register alone will be grouped with other participants at the start of the event, ensuring everyone can effectively collaborate on the challenges.
This hackathon is designed to be accessible to all levels of experience. As mentioned above, no prior equipment or advanced knowledge of technology is required, just curiosity, a willingness to learn and an open mind to develop creative solutions.
A unique opportunity to innovate and learn
The Mobbeel hackathon is an excellent opportunity to develop valuable skills in a dynamic environment. Participants will not only have the chance to solve real problems. Still, they will also be able to demonstrate their skills and innovative spirit in an event that brings together experts and professionals from the sector.
This meeting also seeks to promote the culture of innovation and entrepreneurship in the region, strengthen the local ecosystem, and provide a platform for participants to propel their ideas to success.
If you are looking for a space where your creativity can flourish, where you can learn and where you can also take away a unique experience that will highlight your professional career, the Mobbeel Hackathon Innovation Challenge is the place for you.
